Remembrance Day - Best:
On 4 May 2010, the Netherlands remembered the soldiers and civilians who lost their life during the war years.
Like every year, every village in the Netherlands, has a moment of silence lasting for two minutes. At 8 pm, the whole
country is quiet, honoring the men and women who ensured our freedom then and now. Below you see pictures of the
commemoration in the town of Best, near Eindhoven. Fought for by the 101st Airborne Division in September, but liberated
by the 15th Scottish Division a month and a half later on the 24th of October.
It was a beautiful ceremony. And I noticed, that it gets busier every year, which is a good sign. With veterans and civilians who lived through the
war getting older and older, it is important that the younger generations keep commemorating. Lest we forget!
