Memorial Day 2010 Henri-Chapelle war cemetery:
On May 29 Frank Gubbels, Frenk Derks van de Ven and I went to the Memorial day ceremony at Henri-Chapelle war
cemetery in Belgium. Frank adopted two graves of fallen soldiers at Henri-Chapelle. He was going to place flowers at the
graves. Frenk and I went to the ceremony representing the Remember September 1944 foundation. WWII veterans and
family members asked the foundation to place flowers at certain graves, so we brought white roses.
It was pretty busy at the ceremony. Last year, a lot more graves were adopted at Henri-Chapelle war cemetery. Maybe that is why it was busier
then other years. It’s a good thing, that people continue to remember these men! They deserve it!
A friend of the foundation, Marco Eradus, who is a policeman in the region Brabant-Noord in the Netherlands, was also present at the ceremony.
For the first time, a detachment of the Dutch police region Brabant-Noord would be participating in the Memorial Day ceremonies at the
Ardennes war cemetery, Henri-Chapelle war cemetery and Margraten war cemetery. The group was well motivated and looked good in their
ceremonial uniforms. Thank you boys, for supporting a good cause!
