Gerrit den Braber is born on 11 December 1919 in the town of Sint-
During the war years, Gerrit lived in Eindhoven. He was a police officer for the Eindhoven Police department. In march 1944, the resistance group ‘Partizanen Actie Nederland’, which translates to Partizan Action Netherlands (PAN) was founded in Eindhoven. Gerrit den Braber, also involved in other local resistance efforts, joined PAN.
On 17 September 1944, a day before Eindhoven is liberated, Gerrit was deploying resistance activities. Somewhere along the line, the Germans caught him by surprise and shot him. His body was found at the Kaakstraat in Eindhoven.
Gerrit was buried in Eindhoven and later reburied on the National field of Honor in Loenen.
I thank mister W. Udo for sharing Gerrit’s story.
